Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas is set to equal club legend Manuel Sanchis for most complete La Liga appearances for the Spanish giants.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas is set to equal club legend Manuel Sanchis for most complete La Liga appearances for the Spanish giants.

Sanchis featured in 437 league matches for the full 90 minutes during his spell at the club from 1983 until 2001.

Casillas has up to date taken part in 441 La Liga matches for Real Madrid, but the 30-year-old came off the bench once, while he did not stay on the pitch until the final whistle on four occasions as he was dismissed twice, and was replaced due to injury in the other two appearances.

The Spain international will equal Sanchis' record if he features for the full 90 minutes in Sunday's home game against Levante, and could become the sole record holder against Racing Santander the following week.

Casillas, who has a contract with Real Madrid until the summer of 2017, has so far made 603 official appearances for Real in all competitions.
