Wolves have confirmed that midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has suffered a serious knee injury and will now return to parent club Arsenal.
The Ghanaian is likely to be out of action for almost nine months after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, the same injury he endured to his left knee in 2010.
The midfielder will see specialists in London over the next few days before having surgery and starting a course of rehabilitation which could see him out of action well into the pre-season.
A statement on Wolves' official website read: "Emmanuel Frimpong is returning back to Arsenal after it was confirmed he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Saturday's Barclays Premier League game at QPR."
The player himself has also commented on the injury, confirming he could be out of action for any period of time between six and nine months.
"Bad News is that I'm out for 6-9 months with my Knee Gd (sic)," Frimpong said via Twitter.
"I wanna (sic) thank all the wolves fans for their support since I've been here and really Hope wolves stay up this season."
The Arsenal player had been starting to impress during his loan spell at Wolves, but also picked up a facial injury after receiving a kick to the head against Aston Villa.
He started five games for Mick McCarthy's side before his injury, as well as making 14 appearances for Arsenal prior to his loan spell.
