Trabelsi rues late errors

Tunisian manager Sami Trabelsi said his team did not deserve to lose their 2012 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final against Ghana on Monday.

Tunisian manager Sami Trabelsi said his team did not deserve to lose their 2012 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final against Ghana on Monday.

Despite their 2-1 loss after extra-time, Trabelsi also conceded that the Tunisian players should not have been so petulant when Aymen Mathlouthi's mistake gifted Ghana with their winning goal.

"Obviously, I regret the elimination. We didn't deserve to lose this match. The only thing I can reproach my players for is their anger at the end of the match. There was still plenty of time left for us to equalise," Trabelsi said.

The North African side matched the trophy favourites on all levels but failed to channel their aggression positively in the late stages, resulting in Aymen Abdennour receiving a straight red card for an elbow on Andre Ayew.

Scuffles broke out between other players as well, resulting in the Tunisians losing their focus in the final minutes.
